You guys have a decent amount of land and dirt at your disposal to shred – roughly 1,221,037 km2 – but you also have a population of over 50 million people which is pretty crazy compared to little ol’ uncrowded New Zealand. Although I’m sure 99.9% of the population don’t have dirt bikes on their mind, so that should leave a ton of places open for you to ride right?
You have such an impressive contrast of terrain to explore by bike and I can only imagine how many epic adventures have been experienced by riders who have weaved their way through these vast locations, often scattered with wildlife. And with such a raw and unforgiving ‘play ground’ at your feet (crawling with man eating animals), I’m sure there are a few tales of adventure rides that didn’t end in high fives and smiles too.
South Africa has been big on enduro and motocross since it surged in popularity in the 80’s, spitting out World Champions such as Greg Albertyn, Tyla Rattray and Grant Langston. It also plays host to one of the greatest, most demanding and famous riding events in the world in a place called Lesotho, which is commonly known as The Roof Of Africa.
